I apologise profoundly in my awful use of French in this post title. It has been a tres long time since I last used it so I have big doubts on the accuracy of it.
Yes, it is le cold this morning. It always is in Hokkaido, but I especially felt it on my treacherous 5 minute walk to work. I take back my use of the word "treacherous" right there; we had a recording-breaking fall of heavy snow a few weeks ago. So much that we made it to Worldwide News. Our city even gets horribly pronounced by a BBC Weather forecaster, look! Whether it's something to be proud of is another question. Let's just say that I doubt my friends from the UK will be visiting me any time soon. However, the snow has calmed down these past few days, and we have been seeing sunlight, though we are still left with white monsters caving in at us from either side of the pavements. Sods law though that when it snows, the climate is warmer, and when it doesn't, it's colder. Either freeze to death or die in an avalanche. Take your pick.
On a completely different note, I had a fantastic weekend. The one that happened 3 days ago, to avoid confuse-ment (I believe that word should exist). On Saturday we held an International Cooking class as part of my job. It's basically where we introduce dishes from other countries to the local Japanese people. I was the organiser as such (not the cook, thank goodness), so I had to round people up by begging on my knees for other fellow gaijin to help out. Luckily, my friends are a nice bunch, and thanks to 2 of my mates from the U.S. we held an 'American Home-cooking' class of Spinach cream dip, Spanish tortilla and Banana bread. Perhaps not so much "traditional" American home cooking as one would think, but definitely Western, and the dishes all tasted great. Although, it was the hours after that were the best.
I do enjoy nights after all.
We all went out to a fancy wine bar I found recently in my city, along with my other dearest American and Australian friends, and made good use of the "90 minute all-you-can-drink wine" menu. Maybe a little too much good use. But it accounted for good times. It was supposed to end a sensible night out in my city up until a respectable time, such as say, past 11pm, but my mate J convinced me to meet him later at a gay event in a club in Sapporo for an all-nighter later. He is very cruel. He should not ask me these things once alcohol has risen to my brain.
So I went to my first gay event in Sapporo, and also in Japan. I'd been a few times to gay bars and clubs back in the UK and always had a good time, but I didn't really know what to expect of one in Japan. One way to put it - pretty boys galore. It was heavenly, but oh such a sin for them to be walking around me and my knowing that my charms [insert a "rofl" here] would not work at all on them. There were a few drag queens there too, who, well...looked like drag queens. But they all had the nicest legs. I swear, I would kill for their pins. And they were fantastic entertainers. They had the most beautifully feminine moves in their dances. I wish I had my camera, but I only had my crappy phone (which needs changing due to the scratch across the camera lens, meaning that the focus is useless).
However, the event itself was dead. Even my mate said that he'd never seen it this lifeless before. Therefore, along with 2 other lovely guys that he introduced to me, we moved to a regular club down the road, where it was erm, "happening". So there I was, in my extreme merry state, dancing the night away with 3 very good looking men rubbing up against me. Some may have seen me as an extremely lucky girl, but as it could be taken in the complete opposite way in my head I was protesting, "It's not how it looks! I couldn't go home with any of them!" They very kindly stood in for the boyfriend act when sleazy straight guys tried it on with me, though.
We returned to the club for the gay event till it closed in the early hours of the morning, and there I was tackled (?) in excited giggles by a very pretty boy who exclaimed "Kawaii!" Comparing to the straight guys in the previous club who had told me I was cute, I was most flattered by his remark.
All in all, an amazing night. Will definitely want to go another event again.
Hmmm, I will end this entry on an entirely different note in that I'm fat. I mean that with slight exaggeration. I know I'm not over-weight, but I've always had pockets of unwanted blubber here and there. I'm lucky in that weight and body doesn't do big bounds when I overeat (which I do often, terrible as it is), but I don't stay miraculously thin, and I've had a podgy belly for as long as I can remember. I've fought with it a number of times, admittedly not enough, but have never really got results.
Well this time, I'm fo' serious.
I used to be pretty good; watched what I ate, did a good amount of exercise every day, but it has gone down the drain since I moved to my new place and started my new job. In fact, it's gone the complete opposite directio n, in that I snack a lot more than I used to, and don't do a a single sit up. As a result, I'm starting out my daily routine again, and I wish to keep to it for longer, and get better results (hopefully).
My motivation for it is my new bellybutton piercing, as it looks crap with my folds of belly blubber. Not that I would start flaunting it around in skimpy tops, but it would be be for myself and for my self-confidence. I began my exercise regime last night. Let's see how long I can keep at it...
EDIT: I just realised that I pretty much wrote exactly the same thing in the last paragraph of my last written entry. and that was before I had my piercing done. Goes to show how I haven't improved...orz
EDIT 2: I changed the layout of my Blog just because I wanted to show my Twitter updates here as I tweet more frequently than I Blog. This was the nicest design I could find of the free templates with Twitter that I could find. I tweaked it a bit, but this is just until I get my head round Blogger coding so that I can design my own layout...some day in the future, eheh.
